Gaia Natural Latex Mattress – Organic Latex, Cotton & Wool
Experience the comfort of natural materials with the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress from EcoChoices. Designed for shoppers seeking a more natural alternative to conventional mattresses, this thoughtfully constructed mattress combines certified-organic Dunlop latex, natural Talalay latex, organic cotton and optional organic wool for a supportive, responsive and customizable sleep surface.
With three latex layers and a zippered cover, the Gaia offers a distinctive combination of cushioning, support and flexibility. Rearrange the latex layers to explore your preferred feel while enjoying the resilience of natural latex and the comfort of carefully selected natural materials.
A Natural Latex Mattress Designed for Comfort
The Gaia combines a firmer central latex core with softer latex layers above and below. This layered construction offers a balance of support and cushioning, helping the mattress conform to your body while retaining the responsive feel that distinguishes latex from conventional memory foam.
Unlike memory foam, which can feel slow to respond when you change positions, natural latex quickly rebounds as you move. Its responsive surface can be appealing to side, back and combination sleepers looking for a comfortable balance between contouring and support.
Premium Natural and Organic Materials
Certified-Organic Dunlop Latex Core
The center layer uses certified-organic Dunlop latex to provide the mattress with its firmer supporting core. Organic latex is derived from rubber tree sap and offers a resilient alternative to conventional synthetic foam.
Natural Talalay Latex Comfort Layers
The upper and lower layers use natural Talalay latex, selected for their softer feel. Together with the firmer central layer, they create a plusher, layered latex mattress with some flexibility to adjust the arrangement to your comfort preferences.
Organic Cotton Cover
The zippered cover uses certified-organic cotton. The cotton provides a soft, breathable fabric surrounding the latex layers.
Optional Organic Wool or Vegan-Friendly Cover
Choose the organic cotton and wool cover for natural cushioning and temperature regulation, or inquire about the wool-free, vegan-friendly cover option. Wool can help manage moisture and temperature while providing natural fire resistance.
Why Choose a Natural Latex Mattress?
-
Responsive comfort: Natural latex quickly rebounds as you change sleeping positions.
-
Supportive cushioning: The combination of firmer and softer latex layers balances support with pressure-relieving comfort.
-
Adjustable layer arrangement: The zippered cover allows you to rearrange the latex layers to explore different comfort configurations.
-
Natural material selection: The mattress uses natural latex, certified-organic cotton and your choice of cover configuration.
-
No synthetic foam: Choose a mattress without conventional polyurethane memory foam or synthetic latex.
-
Long-term value: Natural latex is known for its resilience and durability, making it worth considering for shoppers seeking a mattress designed for years of use.
-
A choice of cover materials: Select the wool-covered version or ask about the vegan-friendly, wool-free alternative.
Natural Latex vs. Conventional Memory Foam
Conventional memory foam and natural latex have different characteristics. Memory foam tends to respond slowly to pressure, while latex is more buoyant and quickly returns to its original shape. Many sleepers appreciate latex for its combination of contouring, resilience and ease of movement.
For shoppers looking to reduce their use of synthetic materials in the bedroom, natural latex can also be an appealing alternative to conventional synthetic foam mattresses.

Gaia Natural Latex Mattress FAQs
1. What materials are used in the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress?
The Gaia Natural Latex Mattress combines a firm center core made from 100% certified-organic Dunlop latex with softer layers of 100% natural Talalay latex on both sides. Its cover features certified-organic cotton and organic wool, with a wool-free, vegan-friendly organic cotton cover available by request. The latex layers contain no added fillers, according to the manufacturer.
2. Is the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress made with organic latex?
The center core is made from certified-organic Dunlop latex. The top and bottom comfort layers are made from 100% natural Talalay latex. This distinction is important: the mattress combines certified-organic latex with natural latex, rather than claiming that every latex layer is certified organic.
3. Can I adjust the firmness of the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress?
The Gaia features a zippered cover that allows you to rearrange its three latex layers to customize the feel. It has a firmer central Dunlop latex core and softer Talalay latex layers on either side. Although the mattress offers some adjustability, rearranging the layers will not provide the same range of adjustment as a mattress with interchangeable layers of several different firmness levels.
4. Is the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress suitable for side and back sleepers?
Its combination of a supportive latex core and softer comfort layers may appeal to side, back and combination sleepers. Side sleepers often prefer sufficient cushioning around the shoulders and hips, while back sleepers may prefer a balance of cushioning and support. Individual comfort depends on body weight, sleeping position and personal preference.
5. Does the Gaia Mattress contain synthetic foam or chemical fire retardants?
The product is described as using natural latex rather than conventional synthetic polyurethane foam, with no added fillers in the certified-organic latex. The organic wool cover provides natural fire resistance, according to the manufacturer, without added chemical fire retardants. Review the manufacturer's material disclosures if you need confirmation about a particular substance or certification.
6. What are the benefits of the organic wool mattress cover?
The organic wool is quilted between layers of certified-organic cotton. Wool can help manage moisture and temperature, making it an appealing natural material for a mattress cover. The cover extends across the mattress sides and bottom, according to the product description. A wool-free, vegan-friendly organic cotton cover is also available by request.
7. How thick is the Gaia Natural Latex Mattress?
The Gaia Luxury Mattress is approximately 13 inches thick, according to the product description. Because each mattress is handmade, actual dimensions may vary by approximately one inch.
8. How long does delivery take?
The Gaia Natural Latex Mattress is made to order. Allow approximately four to six weeks for manufacturing, plus about one additional week for delivery.
